We had a conference on Evangelism and Catechism today at St Elizabeth. Father Eric of St Paul the Apostle Orthodox Church in Las Vegas gave a very good presentation and there was much discussion. It was a small and comfortable group. There were a total of five priests including Father Eric, and maybe twelve or so other people besides that. I really enjoyed it and am glad I was able to find someone to cover my shift this evening so that I could attend for the whole day, and not just the morning. The main sense I walked away with is the same that I've had from our priest and my life in the Church, which is, be the Church, live as an Orthodox Christian all the time, "let your light shine before men." If you are genuine and full of the love of God, people will be touched by that, that's how people come to know our Lord, God and Savior, Jesus Christ. It was also interesting to hear about what some other parishes do for ministry and outreach, food banks, assisted living elderly care(hey!). More good advice... be involved in your community.

I came home and made a chicken chili. It ended up being a bit spicy for me, but full of yummy veggies, celery, onion, garlic, leeks, white corn, white beans, white potato, cauliflower, yellow squash, green salsa and chicken. Yum.

just a little fun

(taken from the lovely Christina's blog)

So, here's how it works:
1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play
4. For every question, type the song that's playing
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button
6. Don't LieThis is Christina's suggestion, unless you really really hate the song (in which case why is it in your library eh), listen to each one all the way thru as it plays. You might just hear something interesting about yourself you weren't expecting.

Roller Derby Girls Meet

The women's retreat at St John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church in Portland was this weekend. Susan Sophia and I drove down, along with another woman from our parish, and picked up Mimi along the way. I have been sick with a cold, so I was a little out of it. It was lovely to see Katie, Christina, Susan, and Presvytera Elizabeth again, along with meeting new people and meeting more people in person, like Juliana.
