thinking
I've been thinking about posting here again, but Blogger won't let me change to my gmail account and I can't get in to hotmail, so I'm not sure what to do. If I should just start fresh somewhere else, or just leave it.
Leaving the Emerald State for the Golden State.

I'm here in Bakersfield. I've been enjoying the sunshine and keeping myself busy working in the garden. I will post pictures soon.
I'm sure the handful of people that read this blog are familiar with Etsy. I was browsing tonight and found a local Seattle area Etsy shop that sells knitting stuff, check out this cool messenger bag! Oh, how I want one. It would put an end to the jumble of knitting supplies I throw into a canvas tote and carry around. I really love the squirrel background print on this one. I don't have a baby, but, this baby hat is too cute. I can't really wear most jewelry because of nickel allergies, but there is some amazing stuff here, here, and here, (oooh, I could wear this, sterling silver doesn't have nickel. This shop reminds me of my childhood and my dad, except much cooler, of course. Frida and Diego earings here. One more shop for now, here. Now I think I should get some sleep.

Wow, I can't believe I haven't posted anything since November. I have been meaning to, and then dear Sara asked, so I am finally getting around to it. I am moving!!! Not just moving, but, moving to California! I was given notice by my landlord to move out so that her daughter could move in. So I am packing up and heading south. It is a hard thing since I LOVE Washington, and HATE California, but, love will make you do things like that. I am very sad to leave my parish, my wonderful parish family and friends, and my job and patients, but am looking forward to new things. I am moving to Bakersfield, of all places. How much further away from Bainbridge Island in terms of scenery could I get than that? I am also looking forward to being able to make visits further south to my friends down there. The stay in Bakersfield is not permanent, Michigan will be the next move, God willing. Please keep me, Mary Magdalene, in your prayers.

I've been dairy/peanut/soy free for about a week and a half. Except for Sunday after Liturgy when I forgot and put half and half in my coffee. I had bad itching and hives than night. Tuesday I forgot and had a quesadilla and burrito for lunch, and was very sick that night. One would think it would get easier now, since the Nativity Fast starts for us Orthodox today, which means abstaining from all meat and dairy, with the allowance of fish on the weekends. But, soy??? How am I supposed to live without soy? No lattes. My healty, non-hydrogenated margarine has a mix including soy. Soy seems to be in everything lately. And no easy protein without peanuts either. But at least my rashes, hives, itching are way better. I still get very red and welts, but they don't itch. I'm having to be very particular about my skin regimen, including at work, where I have to use my own soap, Dr Bronner's mild baby soap, and my own gloves, Nitrile from Costco, and use lotion all the time. Cetaphil lotion, it protects my arms, anytime my arms touch anything at work they get red marks and welts. I'm thankful I'm starting to feel better. Glory to God! Thank God for Cetaphil cream, lotion and cleanser! I looked everywhere to find them, the only place I could find them was Costco. They're wonderful, sure I can't pronounce most of the ingredients, but they're the only thing my skin will tolerate now, and the Dr Bronner's baby soap, which I carry around in a little bottle.
